Still have a question we haven’t answered?
We’d rather answer it directly than let you guess.
It's the phenomenon by which a leader's behaviors, decisions, and cultural habits spread beyond their direct sphere of influence — reaching teams, peers, and systems the leader may never directly engage, whether they intend it or not. The name comes from spray painting: when you apply paint with a spray gun, a fine mist carries far past the surface you're targeting. It coats adjacent surfaces and lands where you didn't aim. Leadership works the same way. Every leader is spraying, all the time. The only question is whether the overspray is intentional and beneficial — or unexamined and corrosive.
