Meet Jim Bathurst.

Jim Bathurst’s career didn’t begin in a boardroom — it began in a uniform, learning firsthand that leadership is measured less by rank and more by presence. Over three decades in a combination of military medicine, civilian hospitals, ACOs, and full-risk medical groups, he built a reputation as a steady, common-sense operator who could bring clarity to complex systems and lift performance without losing sight of the people doing the work.

After twenty years as a Navy Enlisted and Nurse Corps Officer and nearly a decade as a federal healthcare leader, Jim went on to lead physician groups, value-based practices, population health programs, and full-scale medical missions in both domestic and austere international environments. His teams have delivered high-quality care across critical access hospitals, large academic medical centers, senior-focused primary care organizations, and government health operations — consistently improving access, quality, and financial performance while strengthening culture, trust, and accountability.

Those experiences shaped the Overspray Effect™ — a leadership framework born not from theory, but from watching how a leader’s tone, habits, and emotional residue travel through an organization and ultimately shape the care patients receive.
